Fall Session Begins October 3, 2011!

We're starting a bit late this year.   Our building's owner (Woman's Club of Morristown) is replacing the roof  (beams & all) this summer with construction to be completed by September 19. That leaves us a couple of weeks to get ready for opening on October 3.   The schedule is more or less the same as last year with the addition of a new Lyrical Class taught by Jennifer Innis and a new acting class taught by Joe Wohlgemuth  (Worth-Tyrrell Alumnus and now head of Theatre Program at Morristown High School).

New Class - New Teacher - Acting  (13 and up)

We're very happy to welcome Joe Wohlgemuth to the teaching staff at Worth-Tyrrell this year.  Joe begins an acting class for teens and adults on Thursday evenings delving into script analysis, character development, the emotional "beats" in text, and how to connect that emotion to the audience.    This is not an "improvisation" class.   A great companion course for a Musical Comedy Workshop

New Class - Lyrical

Students have been asking our Ballet teacher, Jennifer Innis, to teach a Lyical class for quite a while.   So, - this year we've added one to her schedule on Friday evenings at 7:15

New Voice Teacher - MARTIN C. HURT

Martin Hurt returns the Worth-Tyrrell Staff this year to teach voice on Monday afternoons and musical direct the Monday Music Theatre Workshop.    We're very happy to welcome him back.   The word from his private students:  "Fantastic Voice Teacher".

Mini-Nutcracker

Miss Jennifer's  Ballet classes  work on bits and pieces from the Nutcracker in the Fall and  those students who would like to perform, present a collection of those dances in December on the last Sunday before Winter Vacation (December 18 this year) .   The performances are at the Studios at 4:00  (House opens at 3:30).  Since it has been very, very well received, we now plan to do it every year.    Here are some pics of  last year's  performance.   (There is a  fee for participation/costume rental)

JESSICA LEE GOLDYN

More  news about Jessica Lee Goldyn.  For those of you who have been following her career after Worth-Tyrrell Studios,  Jessica worked last year helping to put together the dance numbers for SMASH, Steven Spielberg's new NBC pilot about producing a Broadway show.   She has since been told that the writers plan on creating a featured role for her.    Here's a LINK to the YouTube preview (No Jess in it yet).      Congratulations Jess!

Holidays

We are closed on Thanksgiving Day (November 24 this year),  but open that Friday and Saturday as usual.   We are closed for two weeks for the Christmas/New Year Break, - this year December 19 thru January 1  (Note: our billing month of December is actually 6 weeks long  - 4 weeks of classes & 2 weeks of Holiday.)  The only other holiday  is Memorial Day Monday, May 28, 2012.

Observation Week

All Children's Dance Classes are open to parent observation every year the week after Thanksgiving.  This year: Monday, November 28 through Saturday, December 4.  Parents are invited to attend a regular class and take pictures and videos.    As with recitals and performances, we ask parents not to bring siblings or friends too young to appreciate class, as they tend to lose interest and become disruptive.

Dance Recitals

We hold our Annual Dance Recitals in the Studio Auditorium and have as many as needed to keep the performances to less than an hour's length.  Seating is reserved and determined by the order in which the sign-up sheets are received.   The 2012 recitals will be Friday, June 22 at 7:00; Saturday, June 23 at 4:00; and Sunday, June 24 at 4:00.   If needed we'll add an evening on Saturday, June 23.   Picture day is always the Saturday before.  (Students sign up for a specific appointment time in the office.)

OPEN HOUSE

Usually, on the first Wednesday after Labor Day, Worth-Tyrrell Studios has Open House and Registration Day.  Unfortunately, because of our shortened schedule, we'll have to opt out of that this year.  Please register with the on-line or mailed form.
