Each spring Worth-Tyrrell presents a series of Dance Recitals in the Studio auditorium at 51 South St. We do our best to accommodate as many parents, relatives, and friends as possible while keeping the experience as stress-free as possible. In order to do this we’ve developed a series of “rules” and priorities.
We have as many performances as necessary to keep the shows under an hour long and the size of the audience to about 150 (This year we’re planning 3). All admission is by reserved seat ticket (Dancer’s name printed on ticket in addition to date, section, row, and seat). The recital fee per class is $90, which includes costume, recital, and two reserved seat tickets . Up to 4 additional tickets may be purchased for $5 each. (After May 1st this limit is waived and any remaining tickets may be purchased without restriction.) Every member of the audience must have a ticket – please don’t bring babies or toddlers as they are usually indifferent to the performance and become very distracting for our younger dancers.
Members of the audience are welcome to take pictures or videos, but positively no flash or extra lighting; That is very distracting and potentially dangerous. There will be a video DVD made of all performances (Single video includes all 3 performances) that will be available for purchase.
Seating priorities are established beginning with the order in which the signed recital forms are received. (Be aware that by mid January over half the seats will likely be taken) We then get charts from the dance teachers showing us where in the performance area the students will be dancing and try to locate their family's tickets accordingly. In order to be as fair as possible, we limit tickets in the first two rows to 2 per family. (If you are one of the very first to sign up for the recital and order 6 tickets, you will get 2 tickets in the front row, 2 immediately behind in the second row, and 2 immediately behind those in the third row. By around the 50th form received, the front rows are usually gone.) Recital forms must be returned by February 1st so that we can get the recital costumes we want. (Most costume companies stop accepting orders in March)
Recitals will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, June 25; at 7:00 PM on Saturday, June 26; and at 4:00 PM on Sunday, June 27. Each class will perform in one of the recitals (Advanced classes may be invited to perform in several). A single rehearsal per class will be held in the performance area on Wednesday PM or Thursday PM depending on teacher availability. (Link to last year's Recital & Rehearsal schedule for example purposes only)
We try to accommodate any conflicts students may have with the performance dates. We also try to allow families and multiple class students to perform in the same recital. (Sometimes this works, sometimes it’s just impossible. Please understand.)
Please note :
Costumes usually arrive in late May or early June but will not be released to students
until all charges, including course fees, are paid through June.
