Joe Wohlgemuth

Joe is an actor, director, playwright, and theatre educator.  He studied on scholarship at Worth-Tyrrell Studios, where his performing skills were honed under the watchful eye of Caroline Worth-Tyrrell.  He went on to receive his M.A. in Theatre, with a concentration in theatre history, criticism, and theory.  He was an adjunct professor at Montclair State University and St. John’s University, teaching voice and speech improvement for theatre and broadcasting majors.  Joe was also the artistic director of KidWill, a program that presented Shakespeare for kids and by kids, which toured elementary schools throughout New Jersey.

Joe wrote, directed, and starred in Loyal Companion, which was produced at the American Globe Theatre, the Duplex Cabaret Theatre, and The Strawberry Festival One-Act Festival, and was published in The Best Plays from the Strawberry One-Act Festival 2006.  He has performed in productions throughout New York City, and was seen as Tommy in the New York revival of Raft of the Medusa at the Wings Theatre.  New York credits also include Toby in Loyal Companion and Oscar in The Bionic Woman’s Missing a Sneaker at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre, Junior in Running for the Milk Can Theatre Company, and Mantha in the world premiere of Cex and the Sity (a parody of Sex and the City) at the Producer’s Club.

Joe is currently the director of the theatre program at Morristown High School, where he directs the fall dramas and spring musicals.  He also has a master’s degree in Speech Pathology, and works as a speech therapist at the Lake Drive School.

We are really happy to welcome Joe back to Worth-Tyrrell, now as an instructor.
